Breathing is the most important aspect of human life

We can go without food for months and we can go without water for days, but we can go without air for only a few minutes before we expire. Interestingly, as fetuses growing in the womb we don't use the lungs and nose to breathe ― we use a special «embryonic breathing». Qi enters our navel through the umbilical cord, then travels down to the perineum, up the sacrum and through the spinal cord to the head and forehead, and then travels down the front of the body from the tongue to the throat, heart, abdomen, and navel center. You may have already recognised this path as the Taoist Microcosmic Orbit.

At birth we begin to use lung breathing, but our lungs are not strong yet; the abdomen, being closer to our original source of energy — the navel — has more Qi pressure than the lungs.

Thus, the abdomen assists the lungs with breathing by pulling down on the diaphragm on the inhalation, so that the lower portion of the lungs can fill with air. In this way the lungs use less energy but take in more life force. In this way as children we continue to use abdominal Qi-pressure energy.

As we age we begin to lose the habit of abdominal breathing. The lungs are left to do all the breathing through the chest, which is an inefficient way to breathe. Scientists have affirmed that, with chest breathing, we use only one-third of our lung capacity for breathing. This method of breathing actually expends more energy than it creates.

With abdominal breathing we can increase the Qi pressure and strengthen the organs by voluntarily compressing and releasing them. We can see the effects of reduced Qi pressure that come along with age: in older people the pressure is often low, so the fluid flow in the entire system slows down.

Through breathing exercises of Qigong you can increase your vitality, promote self-healing and rejuvenation, strengthen your organs and increase the Qi pressure in the body, which leads to higher energy levels.

With regular breathing practice, the circulatory system, the lymphatic system, the nervous system, and the endocrine glands become activated and blood, spinal fluid, and hormones flow more easily.

🔥 We are happy to announce that breathing Qigong, which is foundational for all Taoist practices, will be the FIRST TOPIC OF THE MONTH in our new subscription format for online classes! You will learn and practice abdominal breathing, reversed breathing and embryonic breathing.

Monthly plan includes 2 LIVE online lessons with life-time access recordings with Grandmaster Chia and Senior Instructors, guided videos with practice, Q&A session with Master Chia and a group chat with other students and our team for discussion.

The subscription class starts from the 1st of June, special prices from 39€ per month will be available till the end of June! Check information and subscribe here: https://bit.ly/3Lv9sGp
